Galvanized brick wall tie

Brick Wall Ties are pieces of metal used in buildings with cavity walls. The ties give stability to brick (masonry) walls by anchoring them to the adjacent wall, which is usually made from wood or concrete.  Corrugated wall ties can only be used with wood stud backups.

Product Description

Both hot-dipped galvanized and stainless steel are both corrosion-resistant options for corrugated brick wall ties. Hot-dipped galvanized ties are coated with a layer of zinc through a dipping process, enhancing their rust resistance. However, over time, the zinc layer might wear off, especially in harsh environments. On the other hand, stainless steel ties are made from an alloy that inherently resists corrosion, providing long-lasting durability without the need for additional coatings.

Effect

Corrugated Ties are exclusively used for attaching brick wall to wood stud (frame) backups. Only use corrugated ties when there is exactly 1" wall cavity airspace. They are usually used for residential construction and home projects.

Working Principle

Brick wall ties work by connecting brick-and-mortar construction to another load-bearing structure. When force is applied to the brick, it is transferred and dispersed to the second structure (usually wood or concrete), helping to reinforce the brick wall.

Instructions

  1. 1.Bend wall tie at nail and bond into mortar joint
  2. 2.Only one bend of product to 90° is required — Multiple bending will weaken product and compromise intended performance
  3. 3.Check local codes regarding requirements for spacing
  4. 4.Brick wall  tiesmight also have brackets that allow them to be nailed or screwed directly to bricks or dry mortar. By attaching a brick tie to an existing brick wall, it can be effectively reinforced long after its original construction, which can help preserve walls threatened by damage or shifting foundations. Wire ties, which can be easily adjusted to a specific length on the job site, are a popular choice for this kind of retrofit.
